Gay Brighton

The UK’s gayest city, apparently Brighton has the largest ratio of gay’s to that of straight’s, than any other city in the UK. Brighton is an hour’s drive south of London and is the capital’s closest seaside resort. Famous for its pebbled beach and Victorian pier, it’s a city that oozes character and friendliness. The largest gay nightclub is Revenge, located just in front of the main pier. A monthly club night worth going too is Wild Fruit at Creation. Another popular gay venue is Charles Street Bar at 8 Marine Parade (just around the corner from Revenge) and has a small nightclub upstairs called Envy. Between here and Revenge is another popular bar called Kruze. Further up Marine Parade at number 11 is Amsterdam Bar, which also doubles as a gay hotel and sauna. There are loads of gay venues and hotels in Brighton; the best web sites for up to date listings are RealBrighton.com or Gscene.com

One of the best times to visit the city is that of the time of Brighton Pride, held early August. The parade and festival are highly recommended. For further details log onto www.BrightonPride.org. Last year organizers estimated 100,000 people turned out, one bit of advise is to book your hotel early as they always sell out.
