Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get to Brighton Pride this year because of an important Rugby League match I had to play. My boyfriend Erick managed to get there and take the photos above.
Brighton's Pride festival climaxed at the weekend with
150,000 people turning out in baking sunshine to parade through
the streets.
The legendary festival, celebrating the gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgender communities, takes over Brighton and Hove for a
week every year and features a spectacular parade from Madeira
Drive, culminating in a huge party in Preston Park. With record
numbers turning up, this year there were long queues to get into
the park. But the patient were rewarded with all the spectacular
entertainment, eye candy and social gatherings.
This years theme was musicals, and the glamorous floats included The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz and Saturday Night Fever. Visitors and locals lined the streets for the parade, and for the fourth year running police from as near as Sussex and as far as Glasgow took part.
