Brighton Pride 2005 Web site: BrightonPride.org
It’s the UK’s
biggest and best gay pride festival and it’s still a free event. The annual
event is held in Preston
Park, the first Saturday
in August, and attracts a crowd close to 100,000 people. The day starts early with
a camp and colourful parade that leaves the beach promenade (by the Pier) at
11am. Then winds its way through the city finishing at the park, this years
float winner was RealBrighton.com.
As usual dominating the park this year was Wild Fruit’s massive dance tent, a fun fair, Revenge cabarate tent, Gaydar Radio stage, lesbian corner,
sports arena, and a shopping village. Later in the evening all the clubs were
packed to capacity, we danced at the Ocean
Rooms for a special Pride party called Carnival organised by Trade, Action
and Coco Latte. There wasn’t an after hours party so we ended
up at an illegal rave on the beach at Black Rock. A great finish to a fantastic
day.
Here are some galleries of photos and a short video from our
day…
