Cardiff Mardi Gras (Page 1 of 2)

It was Cardiff's second Mardi Gras. The first one last year attracted around 4 or 5 thousand people, this year (2000) it doubled to around 10 thousand. It was a fantastic day, much better organised, much more to see and do and twice as much fun. One of the main new additions was a 1,000 capacity dance tent that looked somewhat like a massive alien spacecraft. There was also a popular cabaret tent, large market area and a funfair.

The local radio station Galaxy 101 were the main organisers of the entertainment. The main stage featured many top name acts and PA's. Also new this year was a massive video screen. Copies of the video are available through galaxy (contact John Dash for details). The entertainment lasted throughout the afternoon and evening starting at 3pm and finishing at 9 when everyone then flooded into the bars and clubs till the early hours of the following day.
