The annual summer gathering in August, featuring some of the worlds sexiest boys and girls, took place for the seventh year in 2014. Known as the biggest gay and lesbian international event, a high light of the year for the gay community. Run by the Matinée Group its a true circuit of parties for 12 consecutive days featuring the some of worlds most popular gay club brands including:
Our favorite events were the daytime pool parties, there were six in total. Dancing outside in the sunshine, surrounded by so many hot guys in speedos, the atmosphere is fantastic, such good fun.
The 2014 edition saw more than 80,000 people from 40 different nationalities, there were so many hotties from everywhere but we seemed to meet lots of Russians, Australians, Israelis, Americans and so many Brazilians, who have officially taken over Europe now.
Hats off to the Matinee Group who organized every event superbly. From the cute bar staff, efficient transport system, sexy dancers, free water handed out at the end of each party, friendly security, incredible sound systems, DJ line-up, lighting… it is really a benchmark in how to organise gay clubbing experiences. A big thank-you to all the Matinee team for such an incredible event.

The most popular event of the week is Circuit's water park day at Illa Fantasia, as many people mention in our video its probably the best gay event in the whole world. So much fun with 10,000 beautiful people.
It’s a totally unique day created to enjoy the sun, the aquatic rides, the music, the performances and of course the thousands of sexy internationally diverse boys and girls from all over the world.
The park opens at 10am, arrive as early as you can, because it gets busy quick. Jump on the rides, slides and play in the pool or just relax and soak up the sun and vistas.
At 2pm the main stage open air party kicks off with the Matinée All Stars DJs alongside more than 50 dancers and performers. The day time party ended with an incredible firework show at 10pm, but it does end there, when the sun sets the party is far from over. From 10pm till 6am it’s Water Park Night, the party moves to Illa Fantasia’s theatre and turns messy. Hot steaming bodies packed the dance floor moving to the rhythm of Matinee’s best DJs. It’s a unique vibe after a day of sexy fun in the sun.
All the venues are out of town, so buses are put on. These all leave from Placa de Catalunya. The fun always begins with a beauty parade queuing up and €5 gets a return bus ticket.
If you are thinking of coming next year, look for a hotel close to Placa de Catalunya so you have easy access to the party buses. The closer the better if you want to lessen the walk of shame at the end of the night – or middle of the day sometimes! If you can afford to splash out then you may as well book into the very gay Axel Hotel, which also host parties on their pool terrace.
It is not all about the parties of course. Barcelona’s beaches, 4.2 kilometers long and just a few minutes from the city, are a unique case in Europe of the integration of a large metropolis with the sea. Sant Sebastiá used to be the most famous gay beach but has lost its crown to Mar Bella, the nudist beach, as the busiest beach. San Sebastian at the other end is popular too, nestled near the W Hotel.
The beaches were just as busy as the clubs. Get a good pair of sunglasses and be prepared to perv on plenty of eye candy. The best place to hangout and meet people by far is Charinguito Cafe on Mar Bella beach.
One of Europe’s best gay destinations. The city mixes tradition and modern, history and vanguard. It is full of contrasts where you can find hidden spots full of charm as well as crowded beaches and commercial areas with great shopping, entertainment, cafes and bars. Not in vain the city combines a valuable cultural heritage and the liking for the latest trends. Its cosmopolitan and tolerant personality, its Mediterranean climate and its excellent location right on the beach has made Barcelona a privileged city considered the Mediterranean gay capital.
If it’s your first time in Barcelona then head down to the cities main gay hang out and meeting point Charinguito Cafe on Mar Bella Beach. It’s open from 10am till midnight everyday to sit back in the sun with a sangria, take in the buff boys and meet new friends. You can get there by taking the metro to Poblenou and walk straight to the beach.
