European Gay Ski Week 2012

The EGSW is for all levels of snowmanship. Whether you're a slalom medalist, an absolute beginner  or a frosty frolicker - or even if you're just coming for the fun and parties - there is plenty to keep you occupied.

For the skiers and boarders, if you are a beginner, or an unsteady intermediate they offer exclusively gay ski or boarding lessons, and people needn't worry about being alone - there was 15 different classes of various levels including 4 ski beginners and 2 snowboard beginners and 1 class that spent most of its time 'Off Piste'.

Also on offer were free guiding service for the more experienced boarders and skiers running from Sunday through Thursday with our own gay guides.

For non-skier's there were special pedestrian lift passes available so you can still get to enjoy the fun in the sun and all the lift-accessible bars and restaurants.

Also, for the first time this year, there was a great option for those just wanting to suck it and see  - which , after all, is just how we all started. We've arranged for specialist ski clothing company, Traverse, to offer easy kit hire just so you can give it a go before committing and getting all your own kit and caboodle.

And at the European Gay Ski Week, skiing and snowboarding is just the half of it.

There are gyms and spas and saunas and pools which are all available in the resort. And event pass holders got free access to the fantastic municipal outdoor pool, jaccussi and sauna . You could also pay for some pampering in the 5 star Chamois D’Or Hotel's Spa.

As Alpe d'Huez has an average of 300 days of sunshine every year (and is one of the sunniest ski resorts in Europe) being outdoors was a wondrous way to enjoy the sporting pleasures.

Event organizer Kevin Millins had this to say:

"The feedback has been amazing. Olivier and I know that without the efforts of each and every member of the EGSW team it just would not keep getting better and better. Long may it continue. Now we're looking at next year's event and beyond."

Special thanks to MC Tonnic and trumpetman DJ Gordon Edge for the amazing Aprés Ski parties everyday.

Next years event will be at the same resort Alpe d'Huez but one week earlier, so from 16th - 23rd March 2013.

Please stick the dates in your diary!
