The opening of the Euro Pride Park is on Wednesday 10th July at J4 esplanade : 20 years of activism, 20 years of EuroPride.
A HISTORIC SITE FOR A UNIQUE CEREMONY - Built on the historical site of the J4, this esplanade is becoming the hottest place for events in Marseille. This spot is in the midst of being renovated as part of the Euromediterranee project. A slice of the plans for Marseille Provence 2013 will take place here, while the view will take your breath away! You can admire the Mediterranean, intensely blue under a clear sky, because the weather’s always fantastic in Marseille!
A VIEW TO TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY - The panorama wouldn’t let anyone down, under the Fort of St Jean you can see the Palais du Pharo, Ile du Frioul, the Chateau d’If and Notre Dame de la Garde: ‘la bonne mere’ (the good mother!). With this amazing view don't forget to admire the Cathedrale de la Major behind you.
EUROPRIDE 2013 KICKOFF - Never has a concert been more beautifully staged, the site is getting ready to marvel at our celebration. The esplanade of 15,000 square meters will be the kickoff point for your Euro Pride and your visit of Marseille and its surrounding area.
The event will honour strong symbols of our community, and all the talents that it possesses, everything that has marked our society in the last 20 years. It’s the launch of 11 days and 11 nights, specially concocted for you by the Euro Pride committee.
The opening concert is a celebration of EuroPride’s birthday, but also of the new rights that have been gained. On top of this, it’s to also celebrate the advancement of electro music and club culture, which are today recognised by the greater public as arts, and were very early adopted by the gay scene.
Who better than Euro Pride for a festival programme dedicated
to these ex-alternative cultures, which have become mass
Renowned artists, prestigious godfathers, hot moments, a location to take your breath away, an amazing mix, and solid communication networks will make this opening ceremony the biggest and best place to be, bringing together 15,000 people at the J4.
The other main events of Euro Pride that we are looking forwards to are:
Organised by Spirit of Star the party will feature a production from Rebeka Brown. A night at the Olympia, this prestigious temple to music is one of the most famous music hall's in the world and a truly spectacular venue for DJ's Antoine Clamaran, Carlos Gallardo, Guena Lg and TYP (The Young Professionals).
This un-missable event will be the official Euro Pride event in Paris, to celebrate Bastille Day in music. It’s an opportunity for the French capital to collaborate and gain from Euro Pride, welcoming in an abundance of tourists who are travelling to France.
2013 COUPLES AND 2013 KISSES FOR THE OPENING CEREMONY OF EUROPRIDE - The event will start with a symbolic and festive ceremony. It will gather 2013 couples, some of whom are French, others from all across Europe, especially the 10 countries where equal marriage is already allowed, who want to show their will to unite and to found a family.
We’ll longer speak of the ‘Marseille Kiss’, which blew up across the internet a few months ago, but instead, the ’2013 Marseille Kisses’. The couples will symbolically be united by local representatives, in presence of personalities from world of politics, sport and culture.
In order to organise Europe’s biggest wedding ceremony, we needed an exceptional location. It will be the J4 esplanade together with the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations, in front of the sea and their promises of freedom.
In collaboration with NRJ music tour and with Sud Concerts Inc, Euro Pride is working on organising an unforgettable concert filled with international artists.
After the parade finishes at Prado Beach, EuroPride 2013, NRJ Music Tour ‘NMT’ and Star of Spirit will welcome you for a concert bursting with international artists, singers, DJs and dancers brought together to bring you a show worthy of its title. NRJ Music Tour is leaving its bags in Marseille for the night, and will kick off on Prado Beach from 9pm. The show will feature the NRJ Music Tour artists, alongside many more from the international scene, who are coming to support the EuroPride 2013 March for Equality.
It'll be an eclectic show which spans both national and international performers, with all the ingredients that make the best GAY parties!
TECHNO PARADE DOES EUROPRIDE! - Only 15 years old, Techno Parade is a young event compared to LGBT Pride Marches, Gay Pride and Euro Pride, which were all born out of the Stonewall Riots in 1969 and the sexual liberation movement of the 70s. Techno had strong links in the 80s when the gays of Chicago and New York experimented with music that was experimental and electronic, who became mainstream thanks to gay clubs. Marseille is the European Capital of Culture 2013 and by the invitation of LGP Marseille, the association Technopol & Techno Parade is collaborating with the Euro Pride parade.
Technopol is the association of both professional and amateur electro lovers, it provides training and organises the Techno Parade in Paris. Founded in Lyon in 1996, Technopol defends electro music’s cultural eco system, and counts nearly 200 members all over France. Join them in the parade on Saturday 20th July and again later for a club-night taking place in Espace Julien.
