London Gay Pride Parade 2005

Over 25,000 people joined the Pride Parade on Saturday 2nd July, with some of the most colourful and entertaining floats ever seen. For the first time there were 46 motorised floats, linked by a range of musical, dancing and walking groups, all sent on their way by a rousing speech by Bob Geldof. Then a packed programme of speakers and entertainment filled Trafalgar Square at the Pride Rally, with a particularly moving moment when Imaan, the LGBT Muslim group, appeared in their rainbow burkhas. Meanwhile Leicester Square was filled to capacity for the finals of Drag Idol, won by The Flourettes from Cambridge who had won the Two Brewers heats.

In the parade this year we were promoting RUBY, a massive club night where Trade, DTPM and Fiction are to join forces and take over Canvas in Kings Cross on Saturday 30th July (the night before Soho Pride). For further details check out RUBY is also to host a dance tent at BigGayOut on Saturday 23rd July.
