Salvation London – Easter 2009
Its London’s biggest gay party, famous for
is glamour and attracting the cities gAylist (gay A-list) sexy boys. Salvation
has changed venues quite a bit recently and has evolved into something massive.
In the days when it was a monthly T-dance in Café De Paris (Leicester Square)
it was much more exclusive, only the best of the best would get in, buying
advance tickets was the only way to guarantee entry. Other wise you’d be
queuing for hours outside hoping door-whore Jesus would finally get you in.
These days Salvation has grown (from its exclusive Sunday T-Dance style) into a
huge, circuit-style “main event” party; using big open plan
theaters. In-fact Salvation’s next event will be on a Saturday night
– 30th May (the week after the Spring bank holiday).
Even the New-Years-Day party this
year sold out at the Hippodrome. So Steve Elliott, the promoter of Salvation
has managed to find an even bigger, more amazing venue for the Salvation Easter
party. The art décor 1930’s Troxy Theater on 490 Commercial Road
(just over from Tower
Bridge in Limehouse).
With its 2,500 capacity it’s a venue ideal for what Salvation has become.
However it’s not in the West End and
many people were saying the 20 minute tube ride was too far! “Go East this Easter” was
the catch phrase used and it seemed to have worked because the venue was busy
with about 1,800 through the doors.
With a new venue and its new big
stage, it meant they were able to double the gogo dancers. We had 12 hunky boys
in all, with our red themed costumes. BoBan was the drag queen host and looked
fabulous in her new dress. Special thanks to Steve, Nicky & Tomek. www.Salvation-London.com
