Always a good weekend away, Manchester Pride is one of our favourite events on the gay calendar. The weekend kicked off on the Friday night with grand final of Mr Gay UK 2008, now in its 15^th year. Hosted by the singer Jane McDonald and billionaire Terry George the show was quite spectacular. 30 buff boys, who had already won their regional heats, took to the stage dressed in just Hotblood swim trunks. Celebrity judges finally crowned 20 year old Dino Gamecho from Cardiff the new Mr Gay UK for 2008. The event was was broadcast live on Manchesters gay radio station Gaydio.

The following day Saturday 23^rd August was the main parade. We all got up early, pulled on our blue speedos and headed off out of the hotel. It’s always great to see so many people dressing up, or maybe down, to make the parade as colourful and flamboyant as it is. The best float was awarded to Age Concern and Essential Nightclub won best commercial float with its hunky construction workers.
